cast iron grill pan

Hello fellow foodies! Today I’m sharing with you another one of my favorite things. Today I want to talk about my Cast Iron Grill Pan. This is not a sponsored post, I just like to share some of the tools of the trade that I use regularly that might be helpful to my readers.

There are so many different pots and pans on the market that it’s hard to discern which are the best to suit your needs. You don’t need a huge number of them, but there are a few that are key, and in my opinion, a cast iron grill pan is one of them.

The first time I tried a steak that was cooked on a cast iron grill pan was many, many years ago. My step mother’s mom had our family over for dinner and she prepared rib eye steaks on a cast iron grill pan and they were the best steaks I’d ever had. I’m not kidding, they were better than any steak I’d ordered in a restaurant. They were tender and juicy and full of flavor. You can tell I was impressed, because I can still remember them like it was yesterday and I still remember the cut of the meat and I believe I just drooled a little.

Shortly after that dinner, I added a cast iron grill pan to my Christmas wish list and my dad and step mom bought me one that year and this tool has gotten a ton of use over the years. I’ve shared my love for the George Foreman Grill here in the past and I use that a lot for grilling chicken and sausages indoors, but if I am grilling burgers or steak indoors, the cast iron grill pan is the only way to go. Yes, it makes the house a little smoky, so we just open up the windows (even in the dead of winter because it’s totally worth it!) You can also place a cast iron grill pan in the oven, so you can just sear your meat and finish it up in the oven to cut down on the smoke. I think meat even tastes better prepared this way than on the outdoor grill and I’m a huge fan of outdoor grilling.

You can purchase a good one for about $100, and they are completely worth the investment. You can find one for a lower price point, but I wouldn’t skimp on a tool like this. It will last you for years and years, if not forever! There’s a really nice one on Amazon for just under $100. https://www.amazon.com/Chasseur-10-inch-Black-French-Enameled/dp/B00JTX4WFS/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1470853000&sr=8-5&keywords=cast+iron+grill+pan+round.
