Hello my foodie friends! Today I have a review for you on a restaurant that recently opened here in town. The grand opening was on April 4, but we didn’t get a chance to make it over there until April 30 and let me tell you, it was worth the wait!
Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar has a total of 18 locations throughout Colorado, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The first location opened in 2007. Their philosophy is to prepare simple foods–such as the quintessential American dish, the hamburger–with culinary passion to satisfy a craving among restaurant-goers like nothing had before. Our experience was definitely in line with their philosophy.
The atmosphere is very casual with an industrial flare. Metal tables, TVs, high ceilings, bar towards the center of the restaurant. We visited at 11:30 on a Saturday afternoon and were sat right away. Our server was prompt with service and very attentive, without being disruptive to our conversation. He had recommendations when asked and was well versed in the menu.
We went with some friends and everyone had a BYOB – Build Your Own Burger. They also have some fantastic craft beers on tap. I had an Apricot Blonde that was crisp and had a hint of fruit flavor, but nothing overpowering.
There are several different burger options on the menu as well as some gourmet salads, but what impressed me the most was the Create Your Own Burger option. They have notepads and mini pencils on the tables and you can choose your own meat (Angus beef, bison, chicken, brisket, etc.), choose your bread (brioche bun, toasted wheat, lettuce wrap), a wide variety of condiments to choose from, and every topping you can imagine. You simply fill out your sheet, tell the server your desired temp level and desired side and wait to be wowed.
They have several different sides to choose from – hand cut french fries, house made chips, tater tots, cole slaw, fresh fruit or sweet potato fries.
I ordered an angus beef burger on a brioche bun prepared to medium temp with garlic mayo, ketchup, Monterey Jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and bacon.
I chose the handout fries for my side and they served them with the Bad Daddy’s sauce, which has a smoky flavor with a bit of chipotle. Upon the server’s recommendation, I used it as a fry dipping sauce rather than topping my burger with it. It was spicy, but not overly so and was perfect with the seasoned hand cut fries.
Everyone in our party was very happy with their meal. The portions are generous, all of the ingredients were fresh and of excellent quality. The fries were seasoned to perfection and the meat had a bit of pink in the middle, just as expected. Bad Daddy’s is a great place for date night, or to grab a bit before the big game. Come hungry and wear your stretchy pants. I know I’ll be visiting again in the very near future!
