Salted Caramel Brownies
Hello friends and Happy Sunday. The weather is gorgeous here in Colorado and Spring has definitely sprung! There are new buds on the trees and the Spring flowers are blooming. I am preparing for a very hectic week with my day job and have enjoyed a relaxing weekend. I’ve been planning a big convention since July and everything is finally coming together. I put the finishing touches together this week and leave on Thursday for Las Vegas.
Today, I’m sharing a recipe with you for a delicious treat. My salted caramel brownies contain rich chocolate, creamy caramel, sea salt and pretzels. I love the combination of salty and sweet and these brownies fit the bill.

Although homemade brownies are simple to prepare, I took a little help from the store for this recipe. Ghirardelli makes some delicious brownie mixes and I see no reason to start from scratch if a mix can provide the same richness and flavor.
I like the double chocolate brownie mix, which contains chocolate chips, but any brownie mix or recipe can be used here. Brownies shouldn’t come with rules :).
Simply follow the mix instructions on the box and stir well.
Today I’m sharing brownie cups, but if you’d prefer, you can just make a batch of brownies and follow the same steps.
If you’re preparing brownie cups, spray a muffin tin generously with nonstick cooking spray, or butter and flower the tin to prevent sticking.
Pour half the mixture into the bottom of the muffin cups, or pour half of the mixture into the bottom of a glass baking dish.
Place one caramel into each of the cups on top of the poured mixture, or if using a baking dish, place a caramel every two inches apart.
Sprinkle a little bit of sea salt on top of each caramel, then pour the remaining mixture over each cup and top with pretzel pieces and a little more sea salt.
Bake until a toothpick comes out clean when placed in the center of the brownies to ensure doneness and let cool completely before removing from the pan.
Serve topped with either whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. For extra decadence, you can drizzle the top of each brownie with some melted caramel.
Salted Caramel Brownies make a great party treat, perfect for BBQ’s or game night. The pretzels add some extra crunch and the sea salt adds a savory element to contrast all of the sweetness of the caramel and chocolate.
I hope you’ll try this recipe for your next party. The kids will love them and get them in the kitchen to help with the prep.
Thank you for stopping by my kitchen, where everything, without exception, is made from the ♥

I have a friend who brings brownies in to work as a treat for her assistants. Everyone adores them andasks for the recipe for her “family secret brownies”. Though she doesn’t tell them, I happen to know that her family secret is Ghirardelli!! I can’t wait to share this recipe with her. You have taken brownies to a whole new level, Shannon!
Thank you so much Wendy! I have no problem with good boxed brownie mix, obviously. I just like to make it my own with a little zazzle.
