Bacon Ranch Burgers
Hello Friends! It’s summer (finally!) and grilling season is in full swing. Today, I’m sharing my recipe for bacon ranch burgers with you. Here in Colorado, we have all four seasons and each one has its own beauty. Coloradans are very outdoorsy and as soon as the snow melts, we are working in the yard, hiking the trails, and dining on the patio.
My husband is the grill master in the family. I prepare the meat and the sides and then it’s up to him to grill . We have a couple of indoor grilling options including the George Foreman grill, but there is nothing that compares to outdoor grilling.
Our girls love dining out on the patio on warm summer evenings. Colorado Springs is at a high enough elevation that insects are scarce so we can enjoy sitting outside. Back in California, you always had to have a citronella candle to eat outside. That’s not a problem here and I’m grateful!
Burgers are an inexpensive and fun meal to make. What I enjoy most about them is they are so versatile and the possibilities are endless! Kids like them and they can be made with lean turkey, beef, chicken or even black beans for vegetarians and you can top them with just about anything. These Bacon Ranch Burgers are definitely in the top 3 for my family. Ranch dip mix has such fantastic seasonings and it takes the guesswork out of how to season the meat. Add each of these burgers to your summer grilling list along with these Bacon Ranch Burgers. They are all great for entertaining and won’t heat up your kitchen.
Bacon is always a great way to start any recipe. You can use turkey bacon or regular bacon for this recipe. Center cut bacon is my go to bacon of choice. It’s leaner than regular bacon, but has better flavor than turkey bacon. Even when cooked in a skillet, the center cut bacon leaves very little grease behind.
Simply cook the bacon strips in a skillet on medium-high heat and drain well on paper towels.
For the meat mixture, all you need is ground beef (or turkey or chicken) bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, 1 egg and a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix.
This recipe will make four 1/4 pound burgers. If you score the mixture in the bowl with your fingers, it will make it easier to make evenly sized patties. Personally, I think the burgers tastes best when cooked on the outdoor grill, but you can make them in a skillet or indoor grill if you prefer.
You can’t tell from the picture, but Hopedog is in very close proximity with her wet nose in the air, just waiting for daddy to drop something on the ground. She’s very good at cleaning up kitchen spills. Cook the burgers to desired doneness. Around here, we like them medium with some pink in the middle.

Now let’s talk about the buns. I’m a firm believer that every burger requires careful consideration of what type of bun to use. For these bacon ranch burgers, I find that onion rolls compliment them the best. Spray the bottom side of the rolls with some butters spray and then char them on the grill. Charing them helps prevent them from getting soggy.
Top the burgers with mild cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and Ranch dressing. When I make these burgers, I make a batch of Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressing, which is a perfect combination with the ranch seasoning in the meat. Making the dressing from scratch is so much better than bottled dressing. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can make my homemade ranch dressing.
Look at that beautiful burger. Doesn’t it just make your mouth water? I hope you’ll try making these Bacon Ranch Burgers yourself. You can print out the full recipe using the recipe card below. - Spray the onion rolls with butter spray and char on the grill.
- To assemble the burgers, take a bun and top both sides with ranch dressing. To the bottom bun, add the burger, two slices of bacon, one slice of tomato and a lettuce leaf, and finally the top of the bun.
