I finally purchased a Microplane from Amazon a couple of years ago. I have no idea why it took me so long. This tool is amazing and it was under $10!!! I’ve become a bit of a snob when it comes to certain foods. I don’t want parmesan that is pre-crumbled in a plastic tub. I want to buy fresh and grate my own. I don’t want to use garlic that is already chopped up and sold in a jar. I want to grate my own. I don’t want to use dried ginger, I want to use freshly grated.

The only problem with being a food snob, is once you become one, it’s really tough to go back. I’m not such a snob that I can’t enjoy meals cooked by friends and family using prepared ingredients that are more convenient, but I definitely notice a difference in the taste if I use fresh, and I find that I’m using more and more fresh ingredients and the taste payoff is well worth the extra effort.

This microplane makes using fresh ingredients a cinch! I use it to grate parmesan,  garlic, lemon or lime zest, fresh ginger, asiago cheese, you name it. The blades are nice and sharp and it has a cover so that it’s protected when I store it and it’s very easy to clean.

This post is not sponsored in any way, I just enjoy sharing tools that make my life a little easier.

And trust me, if you’re used to using more prepared ingredients, try fresh and you will notice a huge difference. You can start with fresh herbs and then take it from there. You will thank me later.

  1. Totally with you on all points. It’s a shame people don’t realize how these small things make huge difference in taste and texture.

We'd love to hear from you!
