We have been working with Hope on her social skills by taking her to the dog park and she has made a lot of progress, so I took her to Garden of the Gods Park. Garden of the Gods is filled with natural rock formations and is a big tourist attraction. It’s also frequented by locals. Admission is completely free, and no matter how many times I visit, it never gets old. The beauty there will take your breath away, and that’s not just because of the altitude!

It’s very busy, so I took Hope on a weekday. I had taken a week off when my step mom came to visit, so we were able to go on a Tuesday. Even on a weekday, there were a lot of people (and dogs) there. Hope did great with the people, just as she always does, and with only one exception, she did good with the other dogs as well. She came across a small dog that she growled at, but she seemed to be ok otherwise.

I know I need to keep working with her, but I’m happy with the progress she’s making. If you have any suggestions on how to get her more socialized aside from the dog park, I would welcome them! She’s such a sweet girl and very friendly with humans, but I want to feel more comfortable when we’re around other four legged friends.

Here we are on our little adventure.

    1. She’s been such good therapy for me since my father passed away a year ago. We are good buddies, her and I and I know God brought her into our lives at just the right time! Colorado Springs is gorgeous – if you do come visit, let me know and I can make a list of recommendations on what to see 🙂

  1. Sounds like she might have some mild leash aggression since she does well at the dog park off leash. It’s so common!! I’d google some tips based on that 🙂 but the great news…doesn’t sound like She’s not dog aggressive!

    1. Thank you!! I will do that. I want my girl to be well behaved and friendly to her furry friends also.

We'd love to hear from you!
