Chex Mix is one of my favorite holiday snacks. I don’t know why I only make it around the holidays, but it seems to be the only time of year it comes to mind. This crockpot Chex mix is so easy that you’ll never buy store-bought again. The ingredients are inexpensive. It is done from start to finish in less than 2 hours. There is only one pot to clean. It makes a fantastic gift for friends, neighbors, co-workers, teachers, your handyman, mail carrier or house cleaners. It’s also great to take to parties, or to have on hand if an unexpected guest drops by.

I remember growing up there was no bag of Chex Mix, so my mom always had to make it from scratch and then we got used to the convenience of the bagged mix and forgot how much better the real thing tastes. My crockpot Chex mix tastes nothing like the bagged mix. It’s so much better! You can also make it gluten free by using gluten-free pretzels. It’s nice to have something that you can offer your gluten-free guests.

Start by melting a stick of butter in the crockpot. Melt the butter on high and then turn the temp to low once the butter is melted.

Crockpot with Butter

Add the spices and Worcestershire sauce and stir until the spices have dissolved into the liquid.

Crockpot Chex Liquids

Add the Chex cereal.

Crockpot Chex

Add the nuts and pretzels.

Uncooked Chex Mix

I like to use the extra fancy mixed nuts that I get from Costco. They have cashews, almonds, Marcona almonds, macadamia nuts, brazil nuts and pecans. After all of the ingredients have been added to the crockpot, just give it a good stir and stir it about every 15-20 minutes until it’s finished cooking. Stir it gently so that you don’t break all of the Chex cereal, but it does need to be stirred or it will burn on the bottom.

The last step is to lay it out over some paper towels to drain. I just lay paper towels over a cookie sheet and let it sit for about 20 minutes and then it’s cooled and drained and ready  to be stored. I hope you’ll give his super simple Crockpot Chex Mix a try and come back and leave a comment and let me know how you liked it and snap a photo and tag #ketchumkitchen on Social Media. Enjoy!
